Welcome to Vuotunki village, to Pohjola, where our ancestors arrived as early as 1686. According to family legends, the first building they built was a sauna.

Old stories and a deep love for the Finnish sauna form the heart of our certified sauna experiences.

We are committed to preserving and making use of our unique building heritage. An old 1960s cowshed has been given a new life as the sauna. The building features three saunas, two shower rooms and changing rooms and  a cozy fireplace lounge.

In the steam sauna, you can enjoy gentle heat, while our regular Finnish sauna focuses on the essentials without unnecessary embellishments. On the terrace, a wood-heated log sauna equipped with an authentic stove awaits—perfect for whisking with birch and other branches. Our traditional sauna guide will introduce you to the art of whisking and the secrets of ancient Finnish sauna mythology.

Between sauna sessions, you can cool off outdoors or relax in a wood-fired hot tub while admiring the natural beauty of Kuusamo. In winter, the bravest guests can complete the experience with a refreshing traditional snow bath, and in summer, you can take a dip in Lake Vuotunki.

Before you have experienced it, you cannot understand the blissful feeling which takes over the body after a bath in a smoke sauna. The gentle warmth and scent of our Seven Star Authentic Smoke Sauna leaves you with an ever-lasting memory. Our sauna master takes care of heating the sauna, and he also knows how to make the traditional, fragrant birch whisks. The sauna is heated with dry birch logs.

Heating a smoke sauna is not a job for a busy man. Bathing in a smoke sauna is a unique experience, with peat moss treatment and a dip in the lake water, in summer from the pier, in winter through a hole in the ice. All this leaves a wonderful, relaxed feeling to the entire body.

The Isokenkäisten Klubi Seven Star Smoke Sauna is located near the main building, on the shore of Lake Heikinjärvi.

In summer it is lovely to cool down on the terrace, admire the sunset and take a dip in the cool and clear lake water. In winter the terrace is illuminated by Northern Lights and thousands of stars. They are clearly visible in the dark night sky, with no city lights to disturb the view. The refreshing dip into the icy lake water is an experience you will never forget.
