Kukkolankoski on Finnish side and Kukkolaforsen on Swedish side, it is the name of Kukkolarapids of Torne River. These rapids are the core of the local fishing culture, where whitefish are caught with landing nets, “lippo” in Finnish. The fish caught is still divided between the households of the village, according to an ancient tradition.
